Retail Center of Herkimer County
The following are the Action Points listed per the Retail Center of Herkimer County Characteristic Group as listed in the Master Plan 2020 document. As activities are undertaken per Action Group, descriptions of these activities will be provided, as well as links to supporting document(s).
ACTION POINT 1: Create a new zoning classification in support of the Retail Corridor (RC1, RC2, and RC3).

October 3, 2019:
The Planning Board presented a request to have General Code (see http://www.generalcode.com/) review the existing Zoning and Codes regulations to provide a review of how they compare to NYS standards and those of similar municipalities - note that Ilion uses General Code (or eCode360) to manage their regulations (see PDF file below).
The Board of Trustees approved this activity/review and Adam Hutchinson of the Planning Board is coordinating this activity. Once reviewed, General Code will provide a proposal for revising the Zoning and Code regulations - which would also include adding the Retail Corridor I, Retail Corridor II, and Retail Corridor III to the Village Zoning profile.

The Planning Board is working in conjunction with various administrative and village representatives to formalize the definition of Retail Corridor 1 (RC1), Retail Corridor 2 (RC2), Retail Corridor 3 (RC3).

Infrastructural Fitness
The following are the Action Points listed per the Infrastructure Fitness Characteristic Group as listed in the Master Plan 2020 document. As activities are undertaken per Action Group, descriptions of these activities will be provided, as well as links to supporting document(s).
ACTION POINT 1: Develop a Capital Improvement Plan. A Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is the tool through which the Village can clarify its approach to capital improvements, including the paving of roads, sewer, water, sidewalks, and parks. The CIP is a document that can show which projects are needed, as well as the relationship of investments in alignment with the priorities identified in this document.
- Responsibility: Village Department of Public Works, Water and Sewer Department, NYS DoT, Planning Board, Code Enforcement, and the Village Board of Trustees.

ACTION POINT 2: Perform an assessment (i.e. geomorphic) of the land area occupied by the Herkimer College and its influence per storm water runoff into lower elevation land/properties of the Village.
